| Nov 19 Written by:aajoanne Wednesday, November 19, 2008 Thanks to member Labdp for her contributions to our blog! I bought a dog bed on E-bay recently. I love EBay. I payed $1.54 for this bed. Not too shabby, huh? Of course shipping was a tad bit more. But still a good buy.
The story on the bed was a lady bought it for her dog and the dog wouldn't sleep on it. I was a little concerned my pups would thumb their nose at it too. In fact, the first couple days they didn't lay on it at all. At least with four dogs my odds of getting one to sleep on it were better than hers.
I finally put it on the sofa and Mickey deemed it a sleep able object. Sidney won't go near it however. The sofa King seems to be afraid of it. Or maybe it takes up too much space on his precious sofa. Maddie would look adorable on it, but she's more of a recliner dog. And Kobe - he has his own bed and really doesn't need any more. So he tends to ignore it.
For $1.54 (and $10 s/h) if only one of them uses it, I still haven't gone too far wrong. If it gets ripped to shreds in a rowdy dog moment and I don't see it in time to correct them, it's still worth what I paid for it. I love a bargain, I love the dogs and I love EBay.

Re: Dog Beds
My boys like their beds..but they like to move around. Can't sleep in one place a long time, they could miss something! Thor has decided he is a sofa lover and Koty still loves his old rug! But they want the beds to be there when they WANT them... I think you'll get MORE then your money's worth, in one way or another! lol

Re: Dog Beds
My dog laid claim on the recliner. I bought a new one in January and it is HIS chair! Don't anyone dare sit on it or he pouts till they get up! How spoiled is that? Of course, when I go to bed at night, he is right there beside me. Along with the cat. So I deem myself lucky if I get half of a queen bed.

Re: Dog Beds
We recently moved into a new house that my husband and i and my three dogs and cat share with my mother. Her dog made it a fourth but sadly he recently passed away. Now although my three all have their own beds in my bedroom, gypsy, my queen, has to have another bed just for her in my moms bedroom. She spends half the nite with us and the other half with my mom. My mon swears that before Chief (her dog) passed on he told gypsy to look after his mom after he was gone. She didn't do this back and forth stuff when Chief was here. I truly feel she is trying to compensate for my moms being alone, but she doesn't want to leave her mon either

Re: Dog Beds
Our Yorkie Coral has three beds. One in three different rooms. Her favorite is the one we have put behind the glider rocker. It is like a little den for her. She can see out and see everyone and what their are doing, but we have to get down on the floor and find her. She loves it.

Re: Dog Beds
MyBeagleZeus loves his bed. He sleeps in it all the time. But of course when he thinks he can get away with it, He jumps up in our bed when we aren't in it and tries to sleep there also.

Re: Dog Beds
I sewed a beautiful dog bed for our elderly boston terrier mix. She never slept in it and always prefered sleeping with a person in that person's bed. But then we took in a stray cocker spaniel and she never gets up on the bed or any furniture at all. So I took out the dog bed I sewed and she just knew what it was for and got so excited she wiggled all over. She sleeps on it every night by the side of my bed. Now I am going to sew her a second one to keep next to the sofa in the living room. So you never know- there is a bed for every dog! Or a dog for every bed!

Re: Dog Beds
OK - I can't read all these comments without sharing too. We acquired our first standard poodle and she immediately decided our bed was her bed too. As she grew we decided it was getting crowded in our bed so we purchased a queen size mattress to replace our double one. We loved our standard so much we soon acquired another so they could keep each other company during the day and so we each had our own dog when we all went out for walks! Can you see what's coming? As the second puppy grew we soon realized we needed a king size bed. But wait- it gets better! As winter arrived we found ourselves fighting for covers. Amazingly a dog can lie down next to you and your cover disappears! They don't make a larger bed or larger sheets and blankets and our bedroom is too small to add more beds so we were at a dead end on ideas until one night recently when I was too busy to finish the laundry and we had to scramble for a clean blanket. All we could find in a pinch was 2 single blankets so we threw those on and went to sleep. The next morning we realized with a start that we had not had to fight for covers! You got it! Now we routinely make up the king size bed with 2 single top sheets and two single blankets and everyone is happy and warm! What we do for our dogs!!!

Re: Dog Beds
to add to my previous comment (i was given a purebred Chihuahua, Chico; with a dogbed he uses it so does my purebred Mini-Dachshund, Brandi (female); & so does our Tuxdo Queen Cat, Oreo (named before we got her LOL); & so does our Albino Tom cat, Snowball; (the Queen the least of all LOL), but if you just leave them to they'l all get used to it in time more then likely) as an early Christmas present my Hubby's Grandmother gave us a half Border Collie half Golden Retriever puppy her name's Snuggle Bear (combined from things then saw the fabric softener & had a laugh at "stealing" it accidentally) & she also now uses it but even more fun is we were given a collapsible carrier to bring Snuggles home & we decided not to collapse it because they all like it too (has a pillow in it maybe that's the reason) LOL
