Yesterday (10/16/08), one of my window screens was pushed out and one of my cats got out.  I have put up signs, put notices in mailboxes and I've walked around shaking a bag of treats trying to find my cat.  My heart is broken just thinking of her out all night in the cold.  She's only 2 and weighs about 7lbs.

If anyone lives in the Stewartstown, PA (17363) area, please keep a look out for my little black cat - MIDNIGHT.

Father
We ask you to help us find Midnight,
our dear pet who is now lost.
We know that you placed animals on the earth
for many reasons, including companionship for man.
We therefore ask you to help us find our lost companion,
and pray that You will keep her safe
and protect her from harm until she is found.
We join our prayers with St. Francis,
St. Anthony of Padua, and all the saints,
and pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Wild4AllAnimals, thanks for the great link for lost cats. I will pass that out to people with lost cats who visit the cat rescue where I volunteer.

whenever you lose a cat, always check the yards close by thoroughly - chances are kitty is within three homes of your own. i found this out the hard way when my cat was found months later dead underneath my next door neighbors porch, the whole time i was busy on wild cat hunts miles away b/c people were calling after seeing my flyers.
when a cat gets hurt or scared they hide close by and they stay silent the whole time - you have to literally crawl under everything and drag them out. there are also search dogs that you can hire to sniff kitty out. sometimes cats flee from something that frightens them, getting lost in the process. and sometimes they are moved accidentally b/c they took a nap on someones truck bed.
